Capitol Canary Achieves Soc 2 Type 1 Certification, Ensuring Compliance With Industry Gold Standard for Data Security

More Than 1,200 Organizations Rely on the Capitol Canary Platform to Organize Supporters and Impact Legislative Decisions Across Every Level of Government

Arlington, VA, May 25th, 2022 – Capitol Canary, the leading government affairs technology platform, announced today that it has successfully completed the Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Type 1 audit and has received its compliance certification.

SOC 2 is a rigorous compliance standard developed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) that is designed to specify how organizations should manage customer data. Capitol Canary’s SOC 2 audit was conducted by Crowe LLP, a leading public accounting, consulting and technology firm, in accordance with the requirements of the AICPA. SOC 2 Type 1 certification affirms that Capitol Canary’s practices, policies, procedures and operations meet the SOC 2 standards for security and data protection.

“This certification reflects our longstanding commitment to proactively protecting our clients’ most critical data and intelligence while also helping them engage with stakeholders and lawmakers on today’s most pressing issues,” said Capitol Canary CEO Steven Schneider. “In a world where data means everything and security breaches are common, having a SOC 2 certification is a key differentiator for Capitol Canary and allows our clients to trust their data is safe while they do the hard and vital work of shaping policy.”

Capitol Canary will begin the audit period for its SOC 2 Type 2 assessment in July 2022 with a goal of attaining SOC2 Type 2 certification early next year, following a mandatory evidence collection period. SOC 2 Type 1 assesses the design of security processes at a point in time, where Type 2 assesses how those controls work over time.
